      ——
Sebastian Wygal served as a horse trooper along with James Miller, Sr. during the Revolution. He was appointed overseer of the road from Ingles Ferry to Sinking Spring May 6, 1794.
The old Wygal clock of much repute was made for Sebastian in 1808-9 by Peter Rife. The raw woods were produced in Richmond and tradition has it that there were 22,777 pieces in it. The dial and several other parts were imported from London. David Whipple, husband of Anne Miller either made or assembled the movements. After his death, it passed into the family of his son John, and upon the death of its last owner in that family was bought at auction by Sebastian Wygal Miller and by him, given to Professor James S. Miller of Emory and Henry College.

      The Wygal Clock
In 1809 Sebastian Wygal had a clock constructed by Peter Rife and Peter Whipple. Rife did the woodwork and Whipple the brass work. Traditionally it contains 22,777 pieces of rare wood, purchased in Richmond, Virginia. The dial and possibly other parts came from London. A David Whipple supposedly assembled the movement. The clock was sold at auction after the death of the last member of Sebastian's family. It was bought by Sebastian Wygal Miller, s/o James and Hannah Wygal Miller. Sebastian Wygal Miller gave the clock to Professor James S. Miller of Emory and Henry College. In 1954 Professor Miller's son took possession and refurbished the clock to appear new. It remained in the possession of the Miller family until 1997, being located for a time in Charlottesville, Virginia, and later returned to the Miller home place near Dublin, Virginia. A picture of the clock may be found on pages 110, 111 of "Houses Virginians Have Loved", by Agnes Rothery, 1954. In December 1997, the clock was purchased by the Williamsburg Virginia Foundation for $300,000.
      ——
In 1820, Sebastian Wygal owned 15 slaves:
      Males under 14 - 4
      Males 14–25 - 2
      Males 26–44 - 2
      Females under 14 - 4
