      ——
By Everett Schermerhorn Stackpole; p. 115
Reynold was in the service of John Winter at Richmond's Island as early as 1634 He was living here on the Newichawannock about 1640 and is mentioned in 1683. He was affiliated with the Quakers from the beginning of their preaching in Dover and Kittery and he and neighboring Friends were more than once presented at Court for not attending the services of the church on the Lord's Day.
      ——
"Reginald, of Dorchester, Mass., is undoubtedly the man who removed, says Winthrop, to Cape Porpoise, Me., and was there killed by the Indians 1632."

"September 1632: 'One Jenkins, late an inhabitant of Dorchester, and now removed to Cape Porpus, went with an Indian up into the country with store of goods to truck, and, being asleep in a wigwam of one of Passaconamy's men, was killed in the night by an Indian, dwelling near the Mohawks' country, who fled away with his goods, but was fetched back by Passaconamy' [W} 1:89. Comments: This passage continues with a broader discussion of fears of a general Indian Uprising [see also NEHGR 12:11]. There is no record of the surname in Dorchester this early. Savage says this man had given name Reginald; there was a Reynold Jenkins, seen sometimes as Reginald, who resided in Maine for half a century beginning about 1636, but this could not be the man described by Winthrop."
