    • Janet was born about 1675 in Scotland, according to her grandson Major Samuel Gregg. 
      d/o John Cargill and Mary Archer, sister of David Cargill. 
      Her family emigrated to the north of Ireland in the 1680s.
      She married James Gregg in County Londonderry, Ireland about 1694.

      In 1718, Janet emigrated to America with her family arriving in Boston on August 4th. In the fall, her family, along with fifteen other families who had proposed to form a distinct settlement, sailed on a vessel to Casco Bay in order to select a township. They landed late in the season where they spent the winter on board the ship. In April 1719, they went to Nutfield, now Londonderry, New Hampshire, where they made a permanent settlement. [1]
