    • Was a favorite of King John of England. Participated in the Siege of Lincoln, fighting on behalf of the king.
      He died in an inn enroute to Chartley, and Agnes his wife of 55 years died upon the arrival of his body, and the two of them were given a joint funeral and burial at Chartley. [3]
