      Thomas Wood evidently lived with his oldest sister Elizabeth and learned the carpenter's trade from her husband, Solomon Phipps. Thomas seems to have found work in the building trade in the vicinity of Ipswich and the newer community of Rowley, for it was the latter community that recorded his marriage in 1654 [2]
