    • He was an "ensign in the army". He was also a slave holder. The following entry is in the church records of Bradford: "Bapt. Peg, servt. of George and Mary Carleton who engaged for her education Dec. 4, 1736." This servant or another servant is named in his will in a manner which shows she was a slave.
