  • Notes
    • How did a girl from Ware meet a boy from Warwick? The only clue is that Elizabeth's sister, Sarah had married one Daniel Green who had moved from Warwick to Ware, and it must have been visits between family and friendsthat brought about the introduction. A family of eight children resulted, and her household also contained, for most of her married life, her mother-in-law and her husband's Aunt Rhoda.

After Jonas's death, she arranged to rent a Warwick house, sold the SouthDeerfield property, and was on the way home, when children that had goneahead brought the news that the house in Warwick was not available. Shewas stranded in Erving with wagonload of children and household goodsuntil Ephraim Murdock of Northfield Mountain offered refuge. The familystayed there for about a year until Elizabeth married Warren Stratton. Apremarital agreement protected her childrens' rights and hers to Jonas'sestate.

She had the sorrow of seeing four of her children die young, a daughter as a small child, and three sons as young adults.
