      Moses moved from Marlboro to Worcester in 1717 when it was a tiny frontier town. He was an active and prominent citizen; moderator, assessor, selectman and on various committees. In 1729 he moved to Brookfield where he was an "inholder". He bought land in Hardwick and Leicester, but by 1739 he was of Rutland. There he remained until his death, first in the section that became Oakham and later in the section that became Barre. In deeds from that time, he styles himself "gentleman".
