    • Albert enlisted in Danville, IL on 20 Nov 1863 at the age of 18. He had dark eyes, dark hair, a dark compexion, and stood five ft, seven and one half inches. He joined company G of the Tenth Regiment of IL Cavalry. On 12 Jan 1864 his detachment was transferred to Little Rock, AR. In April he served with an escort for a General West, who later moved to San Antonio. On the way to TX, Albert Coss fell sick and was sent to New Orleans to recuperate. During his recovery he was put on duty at Indianola, TX, where he tended horses. He soon rejoined his unit at San Antonio and was mustered out of the cavalry on 22 Nov 1865. Albert later lived in Jewell,, KS.
