    • Graduated from Harvard College in 1749 and was a merchant in Marblehead. He took sides with the Loyalists during the Revolution and retired first to Halifax, then to England, and was an agent in the settlement of a British Colony on the Island of Bulama, off the western coast of Africa, where he died.
