  Lancelot was given by his father's will into the charge of his uncle Francis until the age of 21, to learn his occupation, and in that way probably went to Hedon to live. He was given two houses in the same will. By 1607 he was able to purchase by fine, from his sister Ellen and her husband Robert Bracks, a considerable income arising out of her property in the ancestral town of Ryhill and Camerton. Three years after his marriage, in 1613, he is recorded as being a bayliff in Hedon, and in 1616 he was mayor. At his death he is noted in the parish register as "Mr. Lanclotte Newton, Alderman. —— Magna Carta Trail Lancelot is the son of John Newton 3. John is the son of John Newton 4.
