  • Notes
    • James Latham served as a member of the Safety Committee of Pitt County, 1774-1776; member of Provincial Congress of July, 1775, and August, 1775; and was commissioned a Justice of Peace on Dec. 23, 1778. (SRC-DAR 1940:

He and his brother Phineas operated a logging and sawmill in the Tranters Creek area near Bath, N.C.. They donated land to the town of Belhaven for the town to build a school, but the school was never built. The town
sold the property later and it currently holds a marina and a manor house converted into a motel.
