      ——
John Cochran came to Londonderry about 1718 and settled in the east part of what is now Windham, NH. He built a home and cleared the land, living alone for 4 years. During this time, he often visited the home of Justice James McKeen, whose wife Janet Cochran was his aunt. He fell in love with their daughter, Janet and wanted to marry her, but decided to go back to Ireland and get his elderly mother's blessing first. She gave it and he returned to America and married Janet McKeen in June 1734. John died Feb. 26, 1788 and Janet died April 16, 1790. They are buried "in the cemetery on the hill" in Windham, NH.
      They had 5 children, all born in Windham, NH: (1) John, b. 1740. (2) Isaac, b. April 23, 1742. (3) James, b. March 28, 1748. (4) Elizabeth, b. 1749. (5) Mary, b. March 28, 1750.
