SS Polynesian
1869-1883. Built by Robert Steele & Company in Greenock, Scotland for the Allan Line, the Polynesian was originally built with three masts rigged for sail and a 2x2 cylinder compound inverted engine. She had a straight stem, one funnel, a single screw, a tonnage of 3,983 tons, and berths for 120 first class passengers and 850 third class passengers.
