  • Notes
    • It is part of our genealogy to include an Ichabod Spencer who came from England to Lyne, New London, CT. He served in the Revolutionary War and one of his six children was Jewitt who was born in Lyme, CT in 1784. As a young man, Jewitt served in the was of 1812 and then in 1822 he and his wife Sally Huntley moved with their 7 children to the wilderness of Northern PA, in Union Township, Tioga Co. One of the first things Jewitt did was to plant an apple orchard close by. Two more children were born to Sally and Jewitt. One of these was Roxanne. Jewitt lived on his farm 48 years and died in 1870. He is buried in the family plot near his home, known as the Spencer cemetary. Roxanne Spencer and Heman Kilburn married and had 11 children.
