    • s/o Capt Samuel WEBB
      m1 Susanne RANDALL (14 Jan 1703—22 Dec 1724), d/o John RANDALL & Susanna PORTER, on 15 Sep 1721
m2 Bethia FARROW SPEAR (29 Nov 1704—30 Sep 1770), d/o John FARROW & Press HOLBROOK, widow of David SPEAR

His father was in the service under the reign of Queen Anne, and who was lost as sea in 1708. He was left an orphan, his mother having died in 1706, two years before his father. He was “bound over to learn his trade.” His master or guardian did not allow him as much liberty as he desired and in 1713 he ran away, taking passage on a ship for America. Where he went first on reaching this country is uncertain. It is likely that he followed the sea for a time. In an account of him written by his grandson, Seth Webb, it is stated that he landing inRhode Island and was taken into the family of Mr. McIntyre, a blacksmith, of Tiverton, Rhode Island, and there learned his trade. While his name is not found in the town records of Tiveron, there is no reason why it should be there, for he was a minor.

He is not related to Christopher WEBB of Braintree or Richard WEBB of Rhode Island [1]
