      The Atwood alias Taylor family, well-known in Warwickshire, was found by one Robert Atwood (ca 1420 - ca 1470), grocer, an early mayor of Coventry, whose widow, Margaret, married (2) Sir William Taylor, Lord Mayor of London. Sire William had no children by his first wife, Joan, and his Atwood stepchildren adopted the alias Taylor. [2]
