  DEAN, Verna Dame, Age 71, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2006, in a Roseburg hospital. She was born on May 2, 1934, in Malden, Massachusetts, the daughter of Clarence and Bertha (Hargraves) Dame. She was raised and educated in Dover, New Hampshire, where as a girl she trained as an opera singer. Verna moved west in 1966 and settled in Medford, Oregon, where she raised Siamese cats for many years. She moved to Washington and later to California before returning in 1994 to Oregon, this time making Roseburg her home. She worked as a caregiver for the state. Verna still had a love for music and enjoyed singing and playing the organ. She also loved to garden. She is survived by her children, Valerie Brooks of Arizona City, Arizona; Carlene Dean of Fremont, California; Pamela Baker of White City, Oregon; Stephanie Dean of San Francisco, California; Scott Dean of Medford; Melissa Dean Long and her husband, Anthony of Roseburg; grandchildren, Brianna; Amanda; Logan; Morgan; Terrence; Colin; Shennen; Levi; and Michael. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., on Saturday, February 18, 2006, at Taylor?s Family Chapel in Winston, Oregon. Private interment will follow at the Civil Bend Pioneer Cemetery in Winston.
