  s/o Robert FINNEY (1568–1637) m1 22 Nov 1838 Christian PATTEN (d 9 Sep 1649, Plymouth) ch: Margaret, John m2 9 Jul 1650 Abigail BISHOP w Henry COGGIN ch: Abigail COGGIN FRENCH, Thomas COGGIN, John COGGIN m3 26 Jun 1654 Elizabeth BAILEY ch: Jonathan, Robert, Hannah MORTON, Elizabeth, Josiah, Jeremiah, Joshua —— John Finney, his brother Robert, and two sisters, Katherine and Anne first appeared in Plymouth Colony in the 1630's, along with their aged mother whose name is unknown. The Finney family was most likely from the parish of Lenton, Nottinghamshire, where a family matching their description in all aspects is found.  His mother was referred to only as "Mother Finney", and she died Apr 22, 1650 at Plymouth, older than 80 years of age.
