  • Notes
    • He owned two slaves, Essex and Jebina (Antiquarian, 1901, p.191).
They removed to Bradford, and on their letter of dismission from Malden, were accepted into full communion with the first Congregational Church, 5 June, 1699. He served on a church committee Nov. 1707, with Deacon John Tenney and Deacon Bailey to manage "that affair of calling a council as to the matter of Rev. Mr Symmes' salary." He and John Tenney were on a "purchasing committee" (of five) to settle with the surviving heirs of Musquonomonit, Indian chief, and secured a deed for the sum of 6.10s, dated 13, Jan. 1701. The Indians in signing used their various marks; one, the mark of a serpent, another the bow and arrow, and the third the new moon.
