    • He accompanied Prince Richard, brother of Henry III [1220 - 1272], to France in 1225, the Prince being sent by the King to regain his French provinces. 
      After a year's fighting, an armistice was agreed upon. But the French King Louis VIII died before it expired and hostilities were renewed, eventually ending with little result.
