  • Notes
    • In 1777, the Tryon County Committe reported”
“Henry Dillenbach, Jr. always refusing duty being once fined, he expressed himself, that he put this now upon interest, always taking Enemies partie and when the Enemies was advancing so near. he absconded himself in the woods, upon orders of this board being taken in full arms and accuterments and snapped the gun to the guard being an Intirely Enemy of our American Cause.”

After the Revolution, he left the Mohawk Valley and settled in Alburgh, Vermont, which was at the time, British territory. When the boundary was later established between Vermont and Canada, he was surprised to find himself on American soil.
