  • Notes
    • He was the oldest immigrant of the Orrs of Maine for whom Orr's Island, north of Portland is named. He was born in Craiguie, Perthshire, Scotland. He married Ann (unknown) who lived 1661-1745.
      ——
Based on information provided by Rev. Charles Nelson Sinnett, the Orrs and Skolfields came to America on the same ship "Ann" in 1730, arriving in Boston from Londonderry, Ireland. In 1742, the Orrs and Skolfields settled in Brunswick, Me. where they bought large tracts of land. John and Ann (Skolfield) Orr are buried in the old cemetery of the first church there.

According to Mary Newton, who is descended from Lettice Orr, he was born in 1678, in Colerain, IR.
