• Notes

  Jane's parents were from Northern Ireland. Her father, William Knox, was a shipmaster, who died at the age of about 50. The family lived in Boston, and was thereafter supported by Jane's older brother, Henry, from the time he was nine years of age. That same brother later became a figure of historical military importance during the Revolutionary War. Jane was living in Quebec when she married Josiah Dolloff. All their children were born in New Hampshire, but Jane and Josiah apparently returned to Canada, where they both died.
