  Herbert Hudson was born in Grant Park, Illinois, the first child of hisfamily to be born in United States. He was raised in Welcome, MN, left home when he was 12. He lived part of 1924-25 in Plainview, NE and the rest of his life in St. James, MN. He served in the US Army during WWI in France and Germany. Hdqt., 54th Pioneer Infantry quartered in Coblenz, Germany. He was employed by George La Gue at Dunnell Minn. when he was 24 yearsold. Herb or "Suds" as he was known to co-workers was a printer for 57years. He worked at printing office in Butterfield, MN, then at thePlaindealer in St. James, MN until he retired.
