  OBITUARY February23, 1938 Harold Leland Griffith, 223 Summer street, droppeddead at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the rear of 819 Riehl street, where he was preparingto drive to Plainfield, Ia., with his father, Joseph G. Griffith. He was 43 years old. After backing it out of the garage, he was about tofill the radiator of the car owned by his brother. Paul, who rooms at 819 Riehl. His fathersaid he dropped dead of a sudden heart attack just as he was about to reach thruthe door of the car to turn the motor off. He had been suffering minor heart atacks formonths. Mr. Griffith had been employed as a clerk at the JohnDeere Tractor company most of the time since he came to Waterloo about 12 years agowith his parents, J. G. and Gertrude Griffith. He was born April 9, 1894 atPlainfield, Ia., where his grandfather A. P. Griffith, had settled as an earlyday livestock buyer.J. G. Griffith followed his father in thebusiness, and H. L. Griffith had assisted him while they lived at Plainfield. Father and son had been planning to spend the day looking afterbusiness affairs there. Surviving besides the parents are three brothers andfour sisters. Wendell Griffith, 228 Hartman avenue, George and Sue Griffith at home, PaulGriffith, 819 Riehl, Mrs. Charles Greenlee and Mrs. R. L. Lindquist, both of 310Rhey street, and Mrs. Earl Franz, 309 Allen street.
