  Obit: Mina Elizabeth Whitmore, 86, died Oct. 29, 1999, at an Ellsworth health-care facility. She was born March 29, 1913, in Ellsworth, the daughter of William and Charlene (Smith) Conary. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Ellsworth. Mina liked to travel, did crocheting, painting, and collected dolls and hats. She is survived by a son, Richard O. Holmes of Long Beach, Calif; a daughter, Sylvia and her husband, Vinal E. Tainter Jr., of Ellsworth; two grandsons, Troy E. Tainter and his wife, Ruth, and Jon S. Tainter, all of Ellsworth; two great-grandchildren, Erik Edward and Victoria Elizabeth Tainter. She was predeceased by her first husband, Maxwell C. Holmes, and her second husband, Joseph W. Whitmore. A funeral service was held Nov. 1, 1999, at the First Congregational Church, Ellsworth, with the Rev. James Wood and Pastor Robert Maddocks presiding.
