      Mina Elizabeth Whitmore, 86, died Oct. 29, 1999, at an Ellsworth health-care facility. She was born March 29, 1913, in Ellsworth, the daughter of William and Charlene (Smith) Conary.

      She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Ellsworth. Mina liked to travel, did crocheting, painting, and collected dolls and hats.

      She is survived by a son, Richard O. Holmes of Long Beach, Calif; a daughter, Sylvia and her husband, Vinal E. Tainter Jr., of Ellsworth; two grandsons, Troy E. Tainter and his wife, Ruth, and Jon S. Tainter, all of Ellsworth; two great-grandchildren, Erik Edward and Victoria Elizabeth Tainter. She was predeceased by her first husband, Maxwell C. Holmes, and her second husband, Joseph W. Whitmore.

      A funeral service was held Nov. 1, 1999, at the First Congregational Church, Ellsworth, with the Rev. James Wood and Pastor Robert Maddocks presiding. Memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church, P.O. Box 12, Ellsworth 04605. Arrangements by Jordan Funeral Home, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth.
