      -----

At the age of 18 he enlisted in the 16th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, during the Spanish American War, and saw active service in Puerto Rico. He was mustered out of service as Quartermaster Sergeant. In 1900 he went to Pittsburgh, and after trying different jobs was employed by the Jones & Laughlin Steel Co, and learned to be a heater. After his retirement in December 1937 he moved to New Port Richey, FL. He was elected to the City Council of New Port Richey in 1940 and has been re-elected ever since. In 1942 he was appointed by Governor Holland to fill the unexpired term of a deceased Judge of the Justice Court of Pasco County, FL. In 1944 he was elected by the people of Pasco County as Judge of Justice Court for a four year term. He did not seek re-election, and at that time he established an office as a Notary Public at Large, doing most of the work for the Probate Court handling estates in Pasco County.«s18», «s1 111:54»
