    • John was the offical Dover New Hampshire historian during the early 1800s. He wrote many definative works about the history of Dover and its families and is largely responsible for the preservation of the Dam Garrison house, the oldest existing house in Dover. Much of the work of the Damme line of this genealogy stemmed from his efforts.
