    • George Townsend mentions George Dam in his will (proved 25 Mar 1761): “Item I give to George Dam the s/o Moses Dam of Newington in Said Province Yeoman all my wearing apparel.”

      He was a cordwainer, as is shown on his bond, dated 11 Jan 1769, for surety for guardianship of his brother John’s child, William.

      Said to have participated in the Raid on Fort William and Mary on the island of New Castle in New Hampshire, on 14 Dec 1774 (the day after Paul Revere’s ride), successfully taking the fort out of British control and capturing the gunpowder for use in the Revolution.(http://www.nhssar.org/essays/Namelist.htm)
