    ——
On 28 January 1673[/4?], "Philip Atwood of Maulden ... planter, with the assent & consent of Rachel my wife," sold to John Sprague of Malden "a certain nine-acre lot in Charlestown" [MLR 6:447]. On 1 October 1674, "Philip Atwood of Mauldon ... planter, with the assent & consent of Rachell my wife," sold to Jose Bucknam of Malden seven acres of land, partly in Malden and partly in Charlestown; Philip and Rachel Atwood acknowledged this deed on 24 October 1674, he signing and she making her mark [MLR 7:176].
In April 1675 "Philip Atwood of Concord" had fifty acres of land surveyed and recorded at the settlement that would become Worcester [Charles Nutt, History of Worcester and Its People (New York 1919), pp. 1-2, citing Worcester Proprietors' Records].
On 18 January 1680[/1?], "Philip Atwood Senior of Malden ... with the assent & consent of Elizabeth my wife" deeded to "my son Phillip Atwood
all that moiety or one-half part of a certain dwelling house in Charlestown... which Richard Austin now lives in with a garden plot containing sixteen foot of land one way & twelve foot the other way & one-half part of the yard thereto belonging all which was formerly given to me by my father-in-law Batchelor by his will" [MLR 9:530].

On 17 February 1713/4, "whereas my honored father Philip Atwood late of Bradford deceased did by deed of gift bearing date the 25th day of December 1685 as more fully may appear on record at Charlestowne in Middlesex all his lands in the realm of England and part of said land lying in Worcester in New England which my father began to settle and did plant, but was forced to desert by reason of the war, for several reasons me there moving but more especially for a certain sum of money to me in hand paid by Oliver Atwood of Boston in the County of Suffolke, ferryman, ... Notes:

Two death dates for Rachel, wife of Philip Atwood, were sent in by the town of Malden for recording by Middlesex County, 5 February 1673[/4] and 7 November 1674. Philip's wife Rachel was clearly alive on 24 October 1674, when she acknowledged her joint deed with her husband of 1 October 1674 [MLR 7:176], so only the latter of these two dates can be correct. The earlier death date may pertain to their daughter Rachel.
