From obituary in the Redfield (So. Dak.) Journal, Nov. 8, 1889:
"Mrs. Howard was loved and admired by all who knew her. In early girlhood she united with the church and led a life of Christian beauty. Kind, sympathetic, lovable and beloved, she left behind her memories of good deeds done and kind, cheering words spoken to those around her who needed help, sympathy and encouragement. None will miss her gentle care and kindly encouragement more than her life-partner to whom she has for 40 years been a source of joy and comfort, especially so since he years ago became a sufferer from rheumatic troubles that have seriously impaired his physical being. Her life work is ended and the Master has said, "Well done, good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of the Lord,"
