He was granted sixty (60) acres of salt marsh land by the town of Kittery, York, Maine, on December 16, 1652. Nathan's first wife was Judith Conley, his step-sister, and they were married April 28, 1653 and had 2 sons, Nathan and Abraham.

Richard Tozier of Dover, NH lived, first at Boston.
He was mortally wounded, 16 Oct. 1675 at the Indian assalt at Salmon Falls and died soon at Kittery.
    ——
Coleman. "N. E. Captives Carried to Canada" In 1675, Richard Tozier's house was attacked by the Indians for the second time and he was murdered. Lieutenant Plaisted with twenty soldiers went out to bring in the body of his friend and the ambushed Indians waiting for that "last office of love" fired on them, killing the lieutenant and one son and mortally wounding another.
    ——
David B. Tozier "Some Records of the Tozier Family in New England". The first attack on Richard Tozier's house was made 25 Sept. 1675 when he was absent in the command of Capt. Wincoll. Two Indians attacked the house that was occupied by fifteen women and children. A girl of eighteen years, perhaps a daughter of Richard, closed and held the door while the others escaped through a rear door. The Indians chopped through the door, struck the girl on her head and body with their hatchets and, leaving her for dead, they pursued the others who escaped to the next house except for a three year old girl whom they murdered and a seven year old who was carried off to captivity. That girl was returned safe after several months and the one who was wounded made a complete recovery.
    ——
Richard was taxed at Cocheco, Dover in 1659 and the same year received a grant at Newechewannick, now Berwick, ME, then a part of Kittery.

Richard married Judith SMITH on 3 Jul 1656 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts. Judith (daughter of Thomas SMITH and Margaret CLARKE) was born in 1630 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts; died on 18 Jun 1683 in Kittery, York, Maine. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Other Events:

    Notes:

According to legend, John left Wales as a youth and set out for London. He was accompanied by his friend, Abraham Conley, who was Irish. It was in England, before 1626, that John married Ann (surname unknown) and they had five children, including Nathan who was born about 1633.

When John died in 1633, his friend Abraham Conley married John's widow, Ann Lord. Later, when Abraham came to New England, he brought his step-son, Nathan, with him.
    -----
The following is taken from a paper "Nathan Lord of Old Kittery", presented by Ernest C. and Judith H. Maby, at the 1992 meeting of The Sons and Daughters of Nathan Lord:
" We find a record of Nathan Lord's parents, Nathan Lord and Ann Lord, in Rye parish registers in Sussex, England, which show the baptism of five children, born between 1626 and 1633 to this couple. The same registers also record the burial of his father, Nathan Lord, shoemaker, February 1, 1633; the earlier deaths of three of the children; and the baptism of our Nathan Lord, September 1, 1633, seven months after his father's death. By February 1633, Nathan's mother, Ann, was a widow with two surviving children, Mary and Nathan.

On January 1, 1634, the widow Lord married Abraham Conley in Wittersham parish, Kent, England. Her daughter, Mary, died January 6, 1634, only a few days later. The baptismal records of Wittersham parish show a s/o Abraham Conley, baptized on November 5, 1636. It is not known whether this child survived infancy. Ann Lord, herself is thought to have died about November 1636, not long after.

Abraham came to America bringing his step-son, Nathan, with him. Whether or not Ann Lord Conley, Nathan's mother, and the little boy baptized in 1636 lived long enough to come with Abraham and Nathan, we do not know.

Abraham Conley's second wife was Elizabeth (surname unknown). She is known to have been alive as late as 1664, for in that year she was with him as a witness against Thomas Crawley. Abraham and Elizabeth had a daughter, Judith, born about 1637/1638, who eventually became Nathan Lord's first wife. So Abraham Conley was not only Nathan's stepfather but his father-in-law. Not only that, but Abraham Conley married once more after the death of Elizabeth, this time to Margery Everett Nash, and our Nathan's second wife was Martha Everett, Margery's daughter by her first marriage to William Everett, making Abraham Conley Nathan's father-in-law twice over."
