    Milton D. Latham was the fourth of a family of six children, and came to Franklin county in 1874, locating on section 26, in Reeve township, where he now resides. His farm consists of eighty-five acres, under good cultivation. He was born in Jo Daviess, IL in 1849, where he grew to manhood, receiving a common school education, and was married, in 1874 to Emily Buss, born in England, in 1852. They are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Geneva, and have three children -- Carrie, Edith and Jessie. His father was born in Vermont, his mother in Ohio. They were pioneer settlers of Jo Daviess, IL, where they both died.

    The parents of Mrs. Latham were born in England, where the mother died in 1868. The father then emigrated to Stephenson, IL, where he is still living, having had a family of eight children.

    Milton moved to Alexander and farmed there and then in his retirement moved to Oregon where he died and is buried.

    Milton married Emily Eliza BUSS on 11 Feb 1874 in Lena, Stephenson, Illinois. Emily was born on 1 Sep 1852 in Sedlescombe, Sussex, England; died on 28 Sep 1926 in Hood River, Hood River, Oregon; was buried in Idlewild Cemetery, Hood River, Oregon. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Ezra Jr. was born in Vermont but left the Green Mountain state for Ohio in early life and later married at Rockford, Ill. to Nancy Andrews, a native of Ohio. In 1838 he removed to Illinois and was one of the first
    settlers of Jo Daviess county. Soon afterward he built a sawmill, which he operated for a number of years engaging in the manufacture of lumber.
    He also opened up a new farm, entering some land from the government and purchasing other tracts until he was the owner of four hundred acres, constituting a very valuable property. He was by trade a carpenter and a joiner and also followed that pursuit for some years. His last days were spent in Jo Daviess county, but his wife afterward removed to Lena, where her death occured.

    Ezra married Nancy A. ANDREWS on 4 Nov 1838 in Rockford, Winnebago, Illinois. Nancy was born on 25 Feb 1817 in Rockport, Cuyahoga, Ohio; died on 24 Oct 1881 in Lena, Stephenson, Illinois; was buried in Lena, Stephenson, Illinois. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
